I'm having issues with an AR8161 on a new centos 6 install. I found the post at http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=39433&forum=57 and was able to enable the elrepo and install kmod-alx; however, after doing so, the box wouldn't boot. I had to bounce off of a rescue cd in order to unload the driver.

Based on some of the posts discussing the availability of support from the vendor (who doesn't appear to exist anymore); I'm thinking it might be easier/cheaper, in the long run, to go buy another gigabit ethernet card and call it done.
